Introduce Soitec and context of the position

Soitec is a company listed on the SBF 120 index of the Paris Stock Exchange that operates at the upstream end of the microelectronics value chain. Our innovative semiconductor materials are essential to the functioning of smartphones and the rollout of 5G. They also offer numerous opportunities for connected cars, electric and autonomous vehicles, and embedded intelligence in connected devices.

This position gives us an incredible responsibility, which inspires us every day: to enable the widespread adoption of technological innovations while significantly limiting their environmental impact, in line with a commitment to responsible innovation and sustainable development.

What does the job consist?

The work-study program at Process IPR is structured around two complementary areas:

Working on a specific technical project
Gaining an understanding of the role of a process technician

With the guidance of your mentor, you will work on a key process: thermal annealing, used to improve the surface quality of SOI wafers. This process, which is particularly sensitive to temperature fluctuations, requires precise control of the heating and cooling phases to ensure uniform heating. Any deviation can impact product quality by generating stress in the wafer and causing crystalline defects.

In this context, you will be trained in the rapid thermal annealing process as well as in recipe configuration. In collaboration with the process engineer and with support from the equipment manufacturer, you will contribute to process improvement by testing different temperature control configurations.

Your main responsibilities include:

Analyzing the impact of heating profiles on product characteristics
Testing and comparing multiple recipe configurations
Optimizing parameters across all chambers
Contributing to improvements in quality and yield
Validating implemented changes and measuring associated gains

At the same time, you will develop your understanding of the process technician role through hands-on experience working closely with equipment and teams in a high-tech environment.

Requirements & qualifications

As a student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences (BUT) with a specialization in Chemistry, Physical Measurements, Process Engineering, or Materials Science, you are eager to explore an industrial environment at the cutting edge of technology. You are seeking a 24-month work-study program.
You are independent and curious, and you enjoy researching information and finding your own solutions to the various challenges you encounter.
Finally, your team spirit is a real asset, enabling you to communicate effectively not only with your immediate team but also with colleagues on different shifts or in other departments.
